Within our new Schwing Art Center, a Make Studio project that we share with organizations LitMore (www.litmore.org) and Dew More Baltimore (www.dewmorebmore.nationbuilder.com), we provide:
...For our studio program artists, a workspace (stocked with professional quality art materials), gallery space, mentorship, facilitation of special projects and collaborations with outside artists, and a range of marketing/promotional and sales supports, including positioning of artwork in outside exhibition venues. Collectively, these offerings result in sales and exposure for these artists, as well as platforms to share their points-of-view with the wider community.
...For other emerging artists in our community, opportunities to collaborate and inclusively share ideas and resources with artists, as well as to exhibit their work in our gallery.
...For the general public, through our community engagement programming (e.g., workshops, community art-making, exhibits, lectures, etc.), opportunities to engage with diverse art and ideas both as audience and creators.
Make Studio relies on a combination of government funding (i.e., fees for service), foundation grants, and business and individual donations (cash and in-kind). Key funders include The Ellene 'Brit' Christiansen Memorial Fund, Baltimore Office of Promotion & the Arts, and Maryland State Arts Council.
